Stonewall Sports, Inc. is thrilled to announce its partnership with the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) at the 2022 tournament. GLTA is a not-for-profit international organization that manages and sanctions the gay tennis circuit around the world. The goal of the organization is to promote access to tennis and diversity and acceptance within the sport. GLTA-sanctioned tournaments provide a safe space for LGBT players to have fun playing competitive tennis in an environment where all who share the value of diversity are welcome. Players participating in the 8th Annual Stonewall Sports National Tournament and Summit will have the opportunity to accumulate GLTA rankings points, which will be utilized for participation in other GLTA-sanctioned tournaments across the country -- and the world!
Tournament Format: Two-Day Tournament
Single Elimination Tournament for Singles and Doubles, with Singles Consolation.
Saturday & Sunday: 8am-6pm (tentative)
Players will have matches at any time during the two days. Match times will be announced prior to each day of the tournament.
Rules: The tournament will be played according to USTA rules, unless superseded by GLTA rules. This includes USTA's 15 minute default time. Warm-up time will be limited to 5 minutes. Main draw matches will be best two of three sets with a 10 point super tie break in place of the third set. Consolation matches will be an 8 game pro set. The consolation finals will be in the same format as the main draw matches.
Per GLTA rules, no player shall have more than two regular singles matches or two regular doubles matches per day. Each singles draw will have a maximum of 16 players. Each doubles draw will have a maximum of 16 teams.
Players are divided into levels*: A-Advanced, B-High Intermediate, C-Low Intermediate
*Divisions may be adjusted based on registration. It is possible we may be able to accommodate players with an Open or D rating, however, it is likely Open would be consolidated into the A division and D would be consolidated into the C division given tournament history.
These levels correspond to GLTA ratings. Players will have the option to select singles and/or doubles. If a doubles partner is not requested, one will be assigned. Due to scheduling needs, we may not be able to accommodate doubles partners that are playing in separate singles levels.
