ABOUT STONEWALL SPORTS TOURNAMENT & SUMMIT

Stonewall Sports, founded in 2010, is an LGBTQ+ and Ally community-based, non-profit sports organization that strives to raise funds for local non-profit organizations through organized sports. Our league values each player for who they are and what they bring to the each league's community. Our annual summer tournament is an opportunity for our growing community to join together in a weekend of sports, social events and community conversation. Along with past and current members of the Stonewall Sports community from across the country, we invite any and all LGBTQ+ and Ally athletes to join us.

WHY RALEIGH, NC?

Raleigh was the FIRST expansion city that welcomed Stonewall Sports after we expanded from our home in Washington, D.C. In the years since, Raleigh has been one of the largest and most passionate Stonewall Sports communities in our growing network.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY?

This year we’re super excited to be teaming with the Sheraton Raleigh as the official host hotel of the 6th Annual Stonewall Sports National Tournament and Summit. They have a block of rooms reserved for all Stonewallers at a discounted rate. Check out our Travel & Hotel tab on the main menu.

CAN I SIGN UP AS A FREE AGENT?

New to the 2019 Stonewall Sports National Tournament, is the option for players (or small groups of players) from any city to join a cross-city free agent team! This year each team-based sport will offer at least one cross-city free agent team. We are committed to create structural pathways to support inclusion and cross-city engagement. The Tournament leadership team strongly feels adding a free agent option to the National Tournament will support our goals.

If you are interested in playing on one of these teams and meeting amazing players from other cities, please register for your desired sport and click the free agent option during registration. In 2-3 weeks we will move you onto a free agent team, and help identify a captain for your team to focus on team communications and digital-team bonding! If you are interested in serving as a Captain, please email us at Chair@Stonewallsports.org - we will share the Captain expectations, and if you are able to meet those exceptions we offer you free registration!

CAN I PLAY MORE THAN ONE SPORT?

CAN MY TEAM HAVE MORE PLAYERS?

WHAT IF I DON'T PLAY A SPORT?

Yes! This year we're offering 5 morning sports - kickball, dodgeball, bowling, tennis and sand volleyball - and 2 afternoon sports - bocce and billiards. You're able to double up on a morning and afternoon sport. Note that Tournament play on Sunday may effect your participation depending on how far your team advances.

Each sport has a maximum roster size outlined on their registration page. Sports Directors may approve additional team spot, if there is a reasonable reason for the requests. In the past, we have allows extra players if a player is recovering from an injury or in the spirit of inclusion based in physical ability.

Even folks who don’t want to play a sport can still participate in the summit and all other social events that happen during the tournament!  Sign up to a be a Friend of Stonewall here!

CAN I VOLUNTEER TO HELP OUT?

Yes! This event would not be possible without the help of our many volunteers. If interested in helping out, contact Scott Moore, the Assistant Director of the Summit and Volunteers, here.
